A few years after we bought our home, I realized I’d made a mistake. In my rush to fill every room, I chose furniture and décor without much thought. Instead of creating the bright, welcoming home I had imagined, our house felt dark, heavy, and unfinished.

One day, while flipping through a magazine, it finally clicked: a beautiful home doesn’t happen by accident. It takes time and intention. It won’t happen with a quick trip to target unfortuantely. Yes, you can fill your home with things you begin to question six months down the road, but to REALLY get to a place where you love your home and how it feels, that takes time and making purchases with a plan and intention.

I wanted our home to be our family’s favorite place, so I stopped waiting for it to magically come together and started learning how to create it—one DIY project, decorating decision, and room makeover at a time.
