To kick off the new year right, I am excited to share the Top Posts Of 2017 with you!
Last year was such a whirlwind for us and it seemed like just when the year began all the sudden it was over. We have done so many projects throughout the year that I have lost count, some of them were the need to be done now kind of projects and others not so much.
Overall we are very happy with our progress even though we took more breaks than I would have liked, we still managed to make a huge impact on our home with the updates we’ve done so far.
When I started this journey in February of last year I had every little detail planned out in my mind, I knew which projects we would do first and which ones we could wait longer on. But per usual life got in the way!
We have had so many changes to our personal lives in the form of job changes, siblings moving, children moving and other things that needed our immediate focus and when things like that happen it can be easy to become distracted and lose sight of the schedule.
Overall I think we adapted well and I hope that we can really settle into our new normal in 2018. This year we will be tackling some bigger and more extensive projects whereas 2017 was mainly cosmetic updates.
We have strategically saved the hardest projects for last and I am equal parts panicked and excited about what the year holds for our home.
The thought of our home being torn apart while we tackle the rest of the house is probably the thing I will dislike the most but I know the end result is going to worth it.
You guys have made this such an adventure and I want to thank each and every one of you for standing by us and following our journey. So without further ado here is a recap of your favorites from 2017.
Top 10 Posts Of 2017
Modern Entryway Makeover: It was no surprise that our entryway came in at number one because it’s honestly my favorite too! The difference this update made to our home was truly amazing and I love that it is the first thing people see when they walk in the door. Makeovers don’t have to be expensive, every item pictured was either purchased at Target or something we had on hand, Minus the console table we built which was less than $100.00. You can see our DIY Console Table here.
Master Bedroom Reveal: This space is by far one of the most important projects we have done so far. The master is where we spend a lot of time and creating a beautiful space that you can actually feel good about walking into at night is so important. The last thing I want to do at the end of a long work day is come home to a space that looks like a wreck or one that invokes no feeling. Updating your master bedroom should be one of the first projects on your list, it will make you feel good even though few people will see it.
Top Design Mistakes: This post was a huge hit and it helped me to realize that even though the inspirational before and after posts are important, helping you figure out how to get there on your own is even more important. How To Keep A Fiddle Leaf Fig Alive: The coveted fig leaf fig tree, the one that is literally everywhere in the design world, the one thousands of people have tried their hand at, only to fail miserably. In this post, I told you how I’ve managed to keep not one but three of these beauties alive and thriving and how you can too!
Easy DIY Throw Pillows: Every time the seasons change so do the throw pillows around our house. This is the easiest way that I have found to completely update the look of the space without doing a full-blown makeover. Depending on your fabric choice throw pillows can get a bit pricey, especially if you need several. So in this post, I showed you how to sew your own DIY zippered pillow covers and simply change them out with the seasons. (If I can do it so can you 🙂
Cheap DIY Artwork: Nothing can make a house look like a home faster than perfectly placed artwork, but sometimes art can be extremely expensive. In this post, I will show you how you can easily create your own DIY artwork on the cheap!
Fall Master Bedroom Update: You guys went crazy for our fall master bedroom post and I have to admit, I still am! Changing the throw pillows and adding a beautiful antelope print throw blanket was the perfect way to become fall-ready in a flash. Layering faux furs and mixing in rich velvets are always a go-to for me when the season starts to turn cold.
